Placement Companies

Almost 100,000 people will lose their jobs this year due to redundancy plans, double the figure in 2008 (50,000 in the first semester).
Legislation demands that these processes be accompanied by a social plan that helps workers to re-train and find new employment. However, the activity of private companies that carry out this task is not regulated. For example, these companies have their action in construction strictly controlled. Therefore, the Government has included it in the social dialogue.
These companies place 14% of workers affected by redundancy plans, in comparison with 2% of public companies, as Fernando De Salas of UniConsult explains.
